KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia has taken a major step forward in strengthening its trade diplomacy and international image with the issuance of Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. 14 of 2025. According to a press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday (24/06/2025), the regulation was signed by Minister of Trade Budi Santoso and provides clear guidelines for organizing and participating in overseas trade promotion activities aimed at elevating Indonesia’s reputation in global markets.
Published on May 8, 2025, and effective since May 14, the regulation serves as the legal foundation for all government institutions—including ministries, agencies, and regional authorities—in conducting trade promotions abroad. The regulation aligns with Government Regulation No. 29 of 2021 concerning the administration of trade.
“This is a concrete effort by the government to enhance the competitiveness and global presence of Indonesian products, while reinforcing a consistent and unified national identity,” said Minister Santoso.
He added that the regulation also aims to ensure Indonesia is represented through standardized symbols and visuals that reflect the country’s identity.
The regulation outlines two main forms of trade promotion: international trade fairs and trade missions. For trade fairs, it sets technical standards, including a minimum exhibition space of 3,500 square meters for organizers and 36 square meters for participants. All booths must display the official Citra Indonesia logo, serving as the visual representation of Indonesia’s identity abroad.
Trade missions must include at least two key activities: a business forum and business matching. The business forum is a meeting involving Indonesian officials and local stakeholders, while business matching sessions bring together Indonesian businesses and their foreign counterparts to establish trade deals and connections.
To ensure effectiveness, the Ministry of Trade has appointed the Directorate General of National Export Development to coordinate all promotion activities. These activities must be reported regularly and closely coordinated with Indonesian representatives overseas, from planning to evaluation stages.
Minister Santoso also emphasized the importance of selecting qualified products and companies for international promotion. The regulation refers to Presidential Regulation No. 32 of 2019, which governs the official use of national visual elements such as Puspa Bangsa patterns, red-and-white colors, and the Alun Nusantara booth theme.
As a form of support, the government will provide facilities such as exhibition booths, meeting rooms, interpreter services, and market insights.
“We are committed to easing access for businesses by offering these resources to help them expand into international markets,” said Minister Santoso.
