KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia continues its commitment to addressing climate change despite the United States withdrawing from the Paris Agreement. Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said that the commitment was in line with President Prabowo Subianto's speech at the G20 forum in Brazil.

"When President Trump decided to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, we remain committed to hold on what President Prabowo's stated officially at the G20 in Brazil," he said during a Hearing with House of Representatives in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/2/2025).

During his speech at the G20, President Prabowo Subianto said that he would address food shortages, food self-sufficiency, and contribute to global efforts to combat hunger. Hanif said that, President Prabowo also highlighted Indonesian commitment to continue efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Target (SDGs).

"This is related to steps to reduce climate temperature to save the earth, and achieve renewable energy through biodiesel and geothermal," he said.

Earlier, President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, withdrew the United States from the Paris Agreement at the end of January, shortly after he was inaugurated as the 47th President. The US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement was carried out when the Executive Order was signed on January 20, 2025.
