RI Condemns Israel’s Strikes on Iran as Grave Violation of Intl Law

KBRN, Jakarta: Foreign Minister Sugiono strongly condemned Israel’s recent expansion of military aggression into Iran, calling it a serious breach of international law and a clear sign of the Zionist regime’s unwillingness to pursue peace.

“The recent series of attacks on Iran reflects Israel’s growing disregard for peace and regional stability,” Sugiono stated during the 51st Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul, Turkiye, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, Sugiono warned that Israel’s actions threaten the integrity of international law and undermine all efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

He specifically denounced Israel’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, reaffirming the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) position that “nuclear facilities must never be targeted under any circumstances, as such attacks endanger human lives and the environment”.

Sugiono also voiced deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, citing Israel’s continued military offensive and its failure to allow the entry of urgently needed humanitarian aid.

Beyond Gaza, he highlighted Israel’s ongoing displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and the seizure of their land for settlement construction, actions widely deemed illegal by the international community.

“These crimes further erode confidence in the viability of the two-state solution we all support,” he said.

To help resolve the crisis, Sugiono urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further destabilize the region. He also called on the OIC to strengthen diplomatic coordination to pressure Israel to end its violations of international law and aggression in Palestine, while enhancing economic cooperation among member states.

Since October 2023, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has killed more than 55,900 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and triggered a large-scale humanitarian disaster.

Meanwhile, Israeli strikes on Iran over the past nine days have reportedly killed over 400 people and injured more than 3,000, according to Iranian health officials. ***
